Who We Are

Kenbridge Baptist Church is a moderate Baptist congregation located in the town of Kenbridge in the heart of Southside Virginia. Founded in 1912 from the Mount Carmel Baptist Church, the location of the church building has changed several times until its present resting place on Kenbridge’s historic East 5th Avenue.

But though its location has changed, the family of Kenbridge Baptist Church has always been marked by its spirit, warmth, and service. With over one hundred years of ministry, the congregation is still a vibrant part of the Kenbridge community, and draws people of all ages, races, and backgrounds into life-changing worship, active discipleship, warm fellowship, and hands-on service.

Meet Our Staff

Sarah Stokes, Church Secretary

Sarah Stokes, resident of Kenbridge, has been attending KBC since 2014 when the church family welcomed her with open arms. She then began serving as church secretary in 2018. Sarah is married to Jason Stokes, also of Kenbridge, who serves on the deacon board. They have two beautiful daughters, Brittany (son-in-law, Heath) and Hallie, and a precious granddaughter, Huntley. Sarah has been employed by LCPS since 2000 with a current position of bus driver and instructional assistant in kindergarten. She likes camping and spending quality time with family and friends in her free time.

Voni Thompson, Music Director

Voni Thompson started as Music Director in September 2021. As a little girl started piano lessons at age 7. She has always loved hymns and playing in the church from age 14 until present. When she was allowed to first work with the choir in her former church, she was thrilled. God brought her back to what she loves most, serving Him through music. She loves spending time with her grandchildren. Also, she loves animals and nature as they are a wonderful gift from God. She enjoys her 7 dogs and 6 sheep. Last, but not least, she loves cooking for her family, especially making pies. She is so thankful for family and wonderful friends.
